The fair thing before the critical thing. Plenty of businesses would rather absorb four modest charges spread across the calendar than one larger charge in a single month, and there is nothing improper about a vendor building for that preference. Cash flow is a real constraint. A quarterly rhythm can genuinely suit a company whose revenue arrives unevenly, and Swyft hides the billing period from nobody who reads the terms.

The Unit Is a Quarter, Not a Year

The advertised number for Swyft Filings agent service is $149. What it buys is three months.

Four of those come to roughly $596 for a full year of the same service everyone else on the shelf quotes annually, and nothing resembling an introductory discount surfaced during our July 2026 check. This is a request rather than an accusation. Set the periods equal before you compare, because a $149 tile sitting beside a $125 tile and a $99 tile invites a judgment the billing cycle silently invalidates. Multiply first, then choose.

$596 Converted Into Virginia's Own Prices

The state publishes what it charges for everything it touches, which makes an unusually concrete yardstick.

The row that people underestimate is the third one. Virginia's price for handing the appointment to somebody else is nothing, permanently, so no part of the current arrangement is expensive to walk out of. And the second row is the one that puts the scale in perspective: the Commonwealth's entire annual demand on a limited liability company is $50, which is a third of a single Swyft invoice.

What Arrives on One Invoice

A Virginia registered office address of ours occupying the line in the public record where yours would otherwise sit. Documents served at that address scanned on the day of delivery and pushed to you by email, so a response deadline never depends on when you next log in. Virginia's Route Away From Swyft Filings, in Full

Virginia's instrument here is numbered LLC-1016. It records a fresh registered office, a fresh agent, or the pair, on one page, and it is filed with the State Corporation Commission through its Office of the Clerk.

Cost of filing it: nothing. Virginia's fee statute sets out every charge an LLC faces and this transaction is absent from that list, which is why the Commission's step by step guide to the filing ends with a total paid of $0.00. Some states bill ten to fifty dollars for the identical change. Virginia bills zero.

Two ways to send it. The Clerk's Information System takes it online and processes it in real time, so the record updates during your session rather than days afterward. A paper version exists as well, but Virginia does not publish it for download; you ask the Commission for a copy and one is furnished. It is a small quirk, and it tells you which route the state prefers.

The filing itself is modest. Entity name, the party stepping into the role, the basis on which that party qualifies to hold it, and a Virginia street address that is simultaneously the registered office and the incoming agent's own business office. Those two must match, which is Virginia's way of insisting the agent really works where the record says.

Now the ordering rule, which is the opposite of most people's instinct: do not cancel the quarterly plan first. The Commonwealth expects a registered office maintained continuously, and the change filing offers no way to record an empty seat, so what you do is name the incoming agent and let that submission displace the outgoing one.
